Chabanne in the Limousin.

Le “Gîte de Chabanne” is open all year round since 2009. It is an ideal place to stay with family and friends to have a good time with large groups, in a comfortable house, with plenty of room where each can enjoy the various “on site facilities” and equipment or discover the wonder offered in the area.  The « gîte » was designed as a holiday home for relaxing days in any season of the year and all details are developed to optimize everyone stay, adults and children.  Our objective is to provide a memorable time to our renters, such that they will come back with their family, their friends and will share their experience with all their contacts.

 

Chabanne is located in the Limousin, about 20 Km from Limoges (170.000 inhabitants). The small village has about 10 houses, mainly typical farms from the 18-19th century with the style of the Limousin. It is located along the lake of La Crouzille, in the heart of the beautiful hills of Ambazac (altitude is around 550 M above sea level).

 

All commerces and supermarkets are close by, in Ambazac (7 km). The Gîte is also close from the A20 with both an entry and an exit to the motorway, facilitating all excursions and rapid access to all the activities offered in the region. The magnificent site of the Lac de St Pardoux with its beaches and aquatic center (inside and outside heated pools, with water slides, accrocs-branche (zip line in the trees), and other activities (sail boats pedalos, fishing, water ski) is 6 km away from Chabanne… many hiking trails and tresor hunt walking games, biking trails (including for mountain bikes) or horse trails are directly available from Chabanne … Several beautiful castles  are open for visits in the area (don’t miss Chalusset). The animal park & Zoo of the “Domaine du Reynou” is worth a visit also and it is only 20 minutes away. For those who are interested in more recent history, the center de la Mémoire d’Oradour-sur-Glane is located 30 minutes from Chabanne.

The Limousin is now part of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region. It is an old administrative region, with a famous historical and cultural French background. With only 738 633 inhabitants over 17 000 km2, the Limousin is the second less populated region of France after Corsica.

The country side of the Limousin is very green with forests and lakes. It is an agricultural area where sheep and Limousine cows are the main production. Hunting, and fishing remain very popular. Recently, tourism has grown tremendously simply because of the increasing focus for country type of holidays. The area offers a great scope of activities for all ages and interest, sports, cultural and historical places are numerous and all the ingredients are present for a wonderful visit.
